How time flies! It’s been over a year since my 2005 wrapup post, and things have really changed! I hope you’ll follow me through another journey that is my yearly post. I like to think the things I use are pretty good, and that I go through the crap so you don’t have to. Here’s the one time of year I can tell you not just what I recommend, but what I really use/do/listen to/etc.
Step 1. Read last year’s post.
Step 2. Read this one…

Well, they’re days off for me, anyway.
I’ve been off so far this week, and this is my last day off. Wanted to blow some vacation days before I lose them. Wish I could carry some over, but I can’t. Oh well.
Been spending most of the time on music. Most of it really sucks, so I find myself wanting to spend more and more time making it not suck. I’m generally unsuccessful.
But there are a lot of things going on in a handful of songs, so I think i’m getting somewhere.
Beck said before releasing his most recent album that new releases from artists should combine not only the audio of a new CD, but videos, mashups, remixes, and the ability to customize the experience to the user. I agree with all of that. Even though I don’t think DJ Tiesto will be knocking on my door anytime soon to do a remix to any of my tracks, there are communities online that enjoy remixing other people’s work. I’ll see if I can get involved. Plus I hope to have some music videos ready when the music is done. I’d love to have other people involved in that too, but it takes a lot of time.
New YouTube video of my antics behind the mixer went up last night. Enjoy.
So that’s that. Back to work!

On July 1st of this year I started a counter on how many songs are being played through the PandoraFM interface. I haven’t really been paying attention to it lately, in any aspect. I just let it run. I haven’t been changing, fixing.. doing anything to it. I’m actually quite proud of that, it’s running well for a ton of people and i’m not having to make daily fixes. I guess all that time I spent on version 3 paid off in the end.
Anyway, I checked out the “Social” tab today, and saw:
Over 1,052,000 other tracks have been submitted to Last.FM profiles through PandoraFM. * Thanks for being a part of it!
Wow! Big number! It’s smaller than a lot of other numbers in the world, but that’s my number! Thanks everyone!
Gabe is currently listening to Imogen Heap – Hide & Seek (DJ Russ Harris Extended Mix) on PandoraFM

Been working with Bob the past few days on a new Cabin project. I started the framework a while back but never did much with it. Unfortunately, this is all private, so I can’t really share it. But I can give you a screenshot and make you wish you had access to CabinTunez, the ultimate mp3 collection.

Martin, co-founder of Last.FM invited me to stop by their office and visit next time I’m in London. How cool is that! Another data point in my Google Earth KMZ of life.
