New version of PandoraFM brought to you by Pandora and I.

Well, sorry about the lack of warning. www.real-ity.com/pandora is no more. pandorafm.real-ity.com is the future! The name change really means very little though.

The new version has been in the work for a few weeks now, that’s why I haven’t touched the old one or updated the source archive. So I’m quite sorry for that, but I didn’t really want to talk about what was going on until we for sure had a product to push out. We? We.

I was contaced by Pandora a while back wanting to work with me on this. The wanted to enable the same functionality we’ve had all this time, but without the “hack” factor. They created a flash component that now runs on the new version that enables me (or you!) to get that information directly from the source and know what’s going on within the Pandora tuner application.

Plus now when they change the url of the flash app on pandora.com I don’t any longer have to scramble the next morning and change it on this side So this is all very good things, and it’s quite exciting.

It hasn’t been tested much, unfortunately, but there are some other nice features I think you’ll all like. This includes using feeds of information from last.fm to seed Pandora stations. This was reccomended by ahoier in this forum, and I loved the idea. The other new feature is “tracking” where it tracks what previous artists you’ve listened to and can click on one of them to reseed Pandora if you really like it and want to create a new station with that one. Neat! OH oh and yeah I added a url based interface to creating new stations that will submit. I thought it would be cool if you’re like “Hey man check out this new band called The Rockers, they play electropunktripska” so you want them to hear music like that so you can send them the link
