Happy Friday

Hello all. Been a long week for weatever reason, but almost over now.

Getting pizza at work for lunch today, it’s a going away thing for one of the guys here.

Been reading the Hydrogen Audio forums over at www.hydrogenaudio.org. Doing some research on what command line args I can pass to the Lame mp3 encoder to really get the most quality for my byte. I must say, those guys are assholes over there. I’ve never posted, personally. But any time anyone says anything they usualy go after them saying they are breaking some kind of forum term of service, or that the question has been asked 100 times and check out the FAQs.
I’m reading because until recently I’ve been doing CBR 192kbs music. Listening to more and more of b0b and r0s and thier Flacs I wanted something that is a happy medium between the lossless codecs, and the lossy mp3. I don’t want flac files. They just don’t work in my “system” of how I live my life. I have an ipod, i have a script that parses mp3s. I have an mp3 streaming station, etc. But at some point Mp3s are going to be the format of the past. At that point you either hope you have all the physical CDs of all the mp3s you have, download new copies of everything, or be screwed. With lossless, you can just decode and re-encode to the new format of your choice and move on. So I decided a medium stance would be to have high quality Mp3s that could be decoded at some point and re-encoded. “Less lossy” mp3s I guess is what I’m looking for. For a couple weeks here I did CBR 320, but that’s just crazy. Everyone admits it’s a waste.
